  • Wipha

So, there's a typhoon coming through Shanghai. They're calling it Wipha. Personally, I didn't know the difference between a hurricane and typhoon as someone so kindly brought to my attention. So, I looked it up and now I will share this bit of knowledge with you all.

"Hurricanes, typhoons, and cyclones are exactly the same-except for where they form. Hurricanes in the Atlantic and East Pacific, typhoons in the West Pacific, and cyclones in the Indian Ocean and South Pacific."
-shamelessly stolen from a website whose window I have already closed. Ctrl-C ftw.

So there you have it. I'll take a picture. Anyways, I've taken the morning off from Chinese class. My classmate is undoubtedly flipping out. Once, I was 5 minutes late and she thought I had left her all alone in China. Within that 5 minutes, she had made a new friend to be her dialogue partner and I was stuck with the 40 year old Korean woman who can't speak English to perform in front of the class. Gooooooood times. I can only imagine what torment I will face tomorrow as I'm missing the entire 4 hours!

I still have to go to work even though most schools are closed. Oh, the perks of working for a privatized school, untouched by the system. I'll probably be spending the night there. I won't be able to get a taxi, you know, because of the typhoon and all. It's a fun word to say. Typhoooooooooooooooooooooon.

It's only Wednesday. I want it to be Friday-so, I can come home, relax, forget about the frustrations of the week - and then remember I work on Saturdays too. Shoot me now.

  • Back from Guangzhou. At least 6.4 pounds heavier. With alot of stuff I don't particularly want but it was cheap. Great time. Beautiful mountains. Nice getaway.
